And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3-4

Having childlike faith is a concept where we see the Lord through the lens of a child. In this post, we wanted to talk about what it means to have childlike faith and the importance of it.

Being in constant and consistent awe of the Lord. Children can watch the same movie over and over and still enjoy it as if it was their first time watching it. It’s difficult for them to get bored of something or someone quickly. That is how we should be with God. He does many things for us and for the world, and we should always admire the Lord for His character.

Knowing we need our Father. In the same way that an infant cries out for their parent because they know they are not capable of doing things on their own, we must cry out to God. No matter what age you are or what phase of life you are in, you will always need to depend on the Lord.

Believing Him and Him only. Children completely and totally trust their parents. They know that they only want what’s best for them, and therefore listen to them. This is exactly how we should be with the Lord, because He only wants what is best for us and KNOWS what is best for us. We must listen to Him and be patient with Him. If you want something really bad, but God is telling you no, believe in Him. He has something much better waiting for you.

Holding His hand wherever you go. Kids must never be left alone. While walking anywhere, they must have their parent’s hand in theirs to prevent them from deviating from the path. In this same manner, we must hold God’s hand everywhere we go and never let go. If we do, we will deviate from the path of righteousness. If we notice our hands begin to slip, don’t ignore it. Don’t fall for the world. Grip tighter, for there is no other path we need to be on but His.

Ask questions. Children never stop asking questions. They want to know how everything works, and why. We should go about our faith the same way. It is NOT bad to have questions about the Lord and your faith. This is where you go and find answers from the only one who has them – God. Pray to Him, ask Him questions, read His word and you will learn so much. Be a kid, ask as many questions as possible to expand your knowledge every day.
