God-Centered Relationships

Nowadays, fake and superficial friendships have been normalized. It’s played as a joke, but deep down it is a serious issue. The idea of being lonely brings shame and embarrassment to people that they would rather be accompanied by those they share no interests or likes with just for the sake of seeming social. What people don’t realize is that we are never truly alone when the great Lord is always with us. Get comfortable being on your own rather than surrendering your peace to people who lead you astray. So how do you ensure your environment is naturally pleasant and not artificial filth?

Vulnerability can bring you a deeper connection with your friends. However, being vulnerable and venting to the wrong person can cause you to clash your Godly knowledge with the worldly advice you just received. Remember this: Gifts of God do not bring confusion or fear to you. God–led counselling will bring you security and safety. With God being in the center of your relationships, your salvation will not be compromised. Being around true friends will feel like being around family; That’s how you know it’s real.

In Psalm 1, it provides a visual of the Godly and the Wicked. Those of God are like vibrant trees that are deeply rooted in Him and produce heavenly fruits. The Wicked are like chaff: dry and weak. Do not associate yourself with the Wicked, they do not want success for you. They want you to cope with your suffering by finding comfort in sin, just as they do.

Looking around you and ensuring you are surrounding yourself with a circle of good friends is important. But even more importantly, you must check yourself as well. Do you find yourself gossiping? Are you allowing God to take a handle on your life? Are you being as hypocrite? We are not able to have and attract good friends if we are not one ourselves. Ensure you are rooted with God first, because it may be that you are bringing ruin to those in search of brothers and sisters, as well as all types of relationships. We must look inwards before we search outwards.
