God, Our Gardener

Imagine it’s fall and you’ve finally decided to start a garden. You’ve put in your best effort to make sure the seeds are planted properly in the soil, so that they may be rooted in a firm foundation. You’ve watered them consistently and have provided each plant with the proper amount of sunlight and shade that they uniquely need.. As time passes by, the cold season comes to an end. The days get hotter, longer, and brighter. Spring is here …  and that means that blooming is near.

This is how we grow from people of the world to people of the Word. When we come to God as a tiny seed and we invite Him to do work in us, He cares for us. He keeps our Spirit refreshed with His Holy water, He plants us well so that our roots are strongly within Christ, and He knows exactly what each of us needs to obtain and experience before we are ready for the next season. He does all this so that we can bloom into His Godly children.

Unlike the seasons of earth, our blooming seasons are not always identifiable and easy to pin-point. But just like the crops of earth, every individual is a special case and God works on everyone in different ways. For example, potatoes may grow into the dirt to store nutrients and energy while sunflowers grow tall in search of the sun. The gardener, our Lord, knows each person’s soul and works on each person based on their case. Your neighbor may be in search of external love, while you may be in search of internal peace. It is important to pray to Him and allow Him to take control, so He can grow our seeds into a beautiful plant.
