To answer the question everyone is always yearning for - how do you get saved? The answer is simple: through Jesus Christ. Now, what is salvation? Salvation means you truly believe that God sent His One and only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins and that He was resurrected 3 days later, fulfilling the prophecies told. That is it. Acts 16:31 tells us “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved- you and your household.” When Jesus Christ came to earth, He merged the law with His purpose, therefore giving us our eternal salvation. It’s not as complicated as the world makes it out to be!
There’s a misconception that salvation is earned, and it brings a false idea that we must have a long list of good works under our name, so we are worthy to receive salvation. This is not true. If this were the case, let’s face it: No one would make it to see Heaven! Through a lifetime, we do more bad than we do good, whether we realize it or not. Because our God is so graceful and forgiving, he presents to us the greatest gift we could ever have.
Salvation is a gift offered by God, and it is up to each of us to fully accept this gift. The reason why we are not deemed saved based on the amount of money we donated to charity or the number of beaches we cleaned up is because God looks at our heart. Good actions do not make a person “good”. Our intentions are rooted deep within us, and what we produce can look good, but be evil. Society views people from the surface. We idolize people who we think are good and lose our minds when that person turns out to be different. God digs deep down and judges our roots.
However, this doesn’t mean that you can go live a life filled with sin and corruption. We are human, therefore we all sin, but if we are filled with the love for God, we will hate sin. Do not grow comfortable in your sin. Instead turn to Jesus and accept His forgiveness as you repent. Of course, sins upset the Lord, and if you love Him, why would you want to do anything to upset Him? Honor Him and demonstrate your love by obeying.
When you accept your salvation, accept this as well: Being saved does not mean life will become perfect. You will face temptations and troubles every day. By putting your faith in the Lord and by letting the Holy Spirit into your life, you know that in the end, God is leading you to a place that can only be good.
