Life is a series of phases, filled with ups and downs and changes. Some of these changes might be scary, because you don’t know whether it will bring good or bad. Whether it’s a new house, moving off to college, or starting a family, relying on God and holding His hand through these transitions can make things so much easier.
Asking for Discernment
We can see the future, therefore we don’t know if a decision we are making will be good or bad for us. But guess who does know? God! It is crucial that before making a choice you’re not so sure of, ask the Lord to guide you through. Pray that He opens your eyes and shows you a different perspective, and leave it all in His hands. Allow Him to lead you on the right path! John 14:16-18 tells us “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever — the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”
Keep Close to God
A relationship with God is never a straight line, like any relationship. It has its ups, and it has its downs. But when entering a new stage in your life, you must make sure it isn’t pushing you away from the Lord. For example, you just turned 21, this is big! But you get to decide which road you take now. Do you stay with God, and stay responsible? Or do you start going to the club every weekend to get drunk? You decide. Ensure that it’s what is best for you and your relationship with our Father.
Pray!
When in doubt, pray, pray, pray! It is our direct communication with the Lord, so use it! Just like you would sit down with your friends to have that “what should I do?!” talk, you should do that with the Wisest. Come to Him before you go to anyone else for advice. After all, He knows best!
Ask for Prayers
If a singular prayer you make could perform miracles, imagine multiple! This is especially helpful in times when you’re weak, and need help from others to get you out of a rough spot. Sticking together with fellow believers can be incredibly uplifting and motivational. Don’t be ashamed to ask for help through prayers! Ephesians 6:18 says “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
