Let God Decide

How do I choose which college to attend to?” “Is this what God wants me to do?” “When should I take the next step in my career?” “Where should I go from here?” Decisions, decisions, decisions. Our problem is we ask ourselves these questions rather than asking God. We become worried, stressed, and filled with fear as we try to develop a plan for our life. This is because it is not our job to create that plan. God already has a plan for you and that plan has been sealed. God will take you to where you need to be. Rather than trying to steer yourself on an unknown path, let Jesus take the wheel, because He knows exactly what He’s doing. Here are 5 tips on how to sit in the passenger seat and enjoy the ride.
1. Ask For Confirmation
When you ask God to confirm whether you are doing what He wants for you or not, you will begin to see signs that were not there before. These signs may be straightforward or repetitive. God will use people, dreams, and other channels to get to you! If you feel like there are subtle hints or are not sure, keep praying! Follow this acronym: P.U.S.H. (Pray Until Something Happens).
2. Cut Out Anxiety and Doubt
You know God is good all the time. You know His plan for you can only be good. God is not worried about your life because He knows you will get to where He needs you to be. If God’s not stressing, why are you?
3. Prepare to Obey
What you want may not always match what God wants for you. You may be holding onto something that is bringing you harm rather than good, while God has something even greater in store for you. Let go of those things you know aren’t sent from Him - obey Him and the signs He is giving you. Don’t ignore the clear red flags. Trust the Lord, for His plan is far greater than you could ever imagine.
4. Make Decisions with God
Sometimes things may not be super clear for us, and we hinder progress while waiting for God to give us an obvious sign. In occasions like this, we must take a leap of faith while holding the Lord’s hand. Make a decision you feel is right and you feel God would approve of. Proverbs 16:9 NIV tells us “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
5. Know Your Heart
As followers of God, we find Him filling all corners of our hearts. Therefore, we must look within ourselves as well to find the right answers. When you’re doing something you know isn’t right, you know deep inside it isn’t what you should be doing. You just choose to let your desires come over your knowledge of wrong. We must be strong here, following what our heart is telling us is right rather than what we desire that we know God wouldn’t like. This will only bring temporary satisfaction along with long term repercussions.
