There are times in life where God needs us to be alone. We may have little to no friendships, romantic relationships … all ships have sailed for the time being. It can feel discouraging when you feel like it’s just you. What we don’t always realize is that it is never just us. God has always been there, and He always will be there. So, how do we make the most out of our seasons of isolation?

·       Heal. Take this time God is giving you to better yourself as a person. Take the lessons you learned and apply them. Ask God to guide you on the journey as you heal yourself and progress.

·       Forgive. Possibly one of the hardest things for humans to do is forgive. Not for the other person, but for yourself. In this time alone, work on forgiving those who have hurt you. It takes time, but it will feel so liberating once you do and God will be proud!

·       Learn. If a romantic relationship failed… look back on why. Maybe it wasn’t your fault, but what does this teach you? Maybe to not ignore the red flags, to leave the first time around. Or maybe it was due to your actions, and if so, grow!

When in seasons of isolation, you want to avoid certain behaviors, or else you risk hindering your growth!

·       Don’t fall into laziness. When you don’t have many social outings to go to, it’s easy to be stuck at home and not keep up with your mental, physical, and spiritual health. Keep yourself disciplined!

·       Don’t compare your season to someone else’s. We all have a different plan and God will deliver our blessings when the time is right. When you see that friend group that has their weekly bible studies or the godly couple who keeps Christ in their relationship, do not allow thoughts of envy or sadness to enter. Be grateful for where you are and move forward with God.

·       Don’t be too hard on yourself. God is giving you the strength you need, but it’s okay to fall down. What matters is that you get back up and rise even stronger than before!
