The Gift of Motherhood

As Mother’s Day arrives, we spoil our beautiful ladies with flowers and fun. We show them how blessed we are to have them, and blessed we are. Whether we experience it through having a mom or through being a mom, motherhood is truly a delicate and precious gift from our Lord.
“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.” Isaiah 66:13 NIV
When you come into this world, the first person you see, lay with, and cry with is your mother. She carried you for 9 months and will now care for you for years to come. Mothers can do it all: guide you, scold you, teach you, and so much more. They steer us onto the correct path, and we must be thankful for that. We must honor her and cherish her. Exodus 20:12 tells us to “Honor your father and mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” We at times, especially when we’re younger, get angry with our mothers when they say “no” or when they correct you. But as we grow older, we learn and see why she did things that way. Because we soon will be mothers or fathers, and she will have showed us how to become a parent.
Mothers are blessed with the opportunity to be a source of light in a world that already lives in the dark. By source of light, we mean a source of Christ. Mothers are called to comfort and care for her household. Becoming a mom is often a painful process, both mentally and physically. It often makes motherhood seem scary and not at all like a gift. Know this: A mom and her baby share a special intimacy. Do your best with the experience you have and the knowledge you’ve been given by God. As life goes on, all the effort and time you’ve spent as a mom will be reciprocated in many aspects of life.
Note from The Daily Blog: We hope your Sunday was special! Please know that we bring honor to ALL mothers today. The mothers who have adopted, mothers who have done it alone, mothers who have a supportive team, mothers who lost their mother, mothers who have lost their babies, women who are a figure for children they didn’t birth, and mothers who are simply doing their best. We love you all! May God bless you. To those who don’t speak to their mother, we pray that you would look for comfort and care in the Lord, for He is truly the greatest gift and all the glory goes to Him.
