You may have heard the term planting seeds in the lives of others. This refers to the way we leave a mark on the people around us. As followers of Christ, we are capable of planting seeds of the Gospel. In this post, we will provide examples of planting seeds and clarify our role and God's role when it comes to the gardening process of our seeds
While being bold aout the Gospel is encouraged, you don't have to do an extraordinary act to plant a seed in someone. Actions that are seemingly small and insignificant can have quite the impact on someone's hear and bring them to God. Wearing that hoodie that has your favorite Bible verse or drinking out of your water bottle that says "God is Love" are subtle seeds that can grow. A more self-engaging example is writing down encouraging messages and Bible verses on flashcards and placing them around, whether it be at your local shelter or supermarket. To take it one step futher, you can S.H.O.U.T about Salvation. Say the following: How do you get saved? Only through Christ, Understanding the Gospel, and Trusting that God's plan will get you saved. Now, once you plant a seed, where do you go from there?
Your most important role in this process has now been completed. From here, it is left up to God and the recipient to either grow that seed or not. You can pray to the Lord that He helps those around you and that He makes Himself present in other's lives. Pray that all those people you may have reached really hear your message and act on it. Other than praying, your job is now over. Pushing our Father's word and love onto others is not encouraged, or everyone has the right to believe and think what they want to and you cannot force anyone to love God. Attempting to force somebody to accept Christ goes against everything that the Lord stands for. But taking small acts and planting a seed that can potentially grow into a beautiful tree of faith can make all the difference in someone's life.
1 Corinthians 3:6-7
"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow."
