Women Of The Bible

By reading the Word and studying it, you can encounter all sorts of testimonies and troubles that can be learned from. It’s beautiful how a problem we may be struggling with today was already handled by God thousands and thousands of years ago. With Women’s History month coming to an end this week, The Daily Bread wanted to share the lives of women in the Bible. Each woman not only tells a story, but they teach a lesson as well.

EVE

Eve – the most well-known woman in the Bible; the first woman on Earth. She was created from the rib of Adam and was placed on this earth to be his companion. Her and Adam’s only instruction from God was not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but they could eat from every other tree in the garden. Then came the serpent, who told Adam and Eve that the Lord was lying to them and convinced them to eat the fruit. And so, Eve did just that. Eve fell for the lies of the devil rather than listening to the very One who created her. Eve gives us a lesson that in times of temptation from the enemy, we must remain strong and turn to God. Only He will guide us in the right direction and do things for our own good.

RACHEL

Most, if not all women, long for a man who will make them feel like the only girl in the world. A man who knows how to love and would wait a million years for them. This is achieved through a man of God, not a toxic ex or a man who only wants to see you at night. In the Bible, we see Jacob fall in love with Rachel. But her father forces Jacob to work 7 years to have her. He was so in love with her that he did just that. And after the 7 years, her father made him work 7 more. So, he did just that. Jacob worked a total of 14 years to finally be able to marry Rachel. He was patient, he was loving, and he persevered in efforts to finally have the woman he most desired. Rachel shows us that we mustn’t settle for less because we are impatient. We must wait for a Godly man who will love us correctly.

MARY

If any of us were in the Virgin Mary’s position, we would most likely react like Joseph: full of doubt and anxiety, along with our faith fleeing. Instead, Mary kept her faith. She trusted in the Lord and His Word. She knew this promise would be fulfilled and she was honored to give birth to the Son of God. We should all aim to inherit Mary’s ability to willingly surrender her life to God. Ask Him to take complete control of your life and accept His plans for you. Even if you want your life to go one way, keep in mind that God’s way will bring more blessings and happiness.

SARAH

Imagine allowing doubt to counter your faith to the point that you laugh at one of the promises God dedicates to you. After decades of trying for a baby, Abraham and Sarah figured being parents wasn’t in God’s plan for them. Once Sarah turned 90 years old, God promised her that they would indeed create a family and there would be generations to come. Sarah heard God say this and … laughed. She had already accepted the fact that maybe her body was just too old to have a baby, and now this? As crazy as the promise sounded, the promise was true. Sarah became pregnant and gave birth to Isaac. Notice how God did not retract His promise because of Sarah’s initial doubt. God understands that there will be times our human nature makes His words seem impossible, and in times as such, the Lord will do the impossible to ensure that we keep our faith. Sarah teaches us to be patient and to never stop trusting in the Lord, even when everything appears to be falling apart.

There are many more women in the Bible, that left an impact and provided wisdom. We encourage you to open your Bible and meet with some of these women yourself. Get to know Ruth, Esther, Rebekah, Lot’s Wife, and many more. We plan on going into depth with some of the names you see here, but until then, please find out who they are and how God worked in their life!
